Welcome to History on a Whim!

As a historian, by trade, I have my area of expertise, the time and place in history I spend most of my time perusing. For me that has always been Military History, mainly Military History of the 19th, and 20th century. While that is where I will always spend most of my time, I often find myself studying the most random parts of history, as my hobby.

My goal for all of this madness, is to document my random walk through history. I study all kinds of subjects from sports, popular culture, ancient history, the history of technology (even weird subjects like the history of video games, and the history of filmmaking equipment), movies, music, and whatever else you might think of. More often than not, the mood to study these random subjects, just kind of arrives. I find inspiration in so many different areas, and things within my life. There’s a little muse up there, somewhere, telling to be interested in a certain subject, at a certain time.
